Willingness to Change Means an Opportunity to Succeed

My great story this month was with a patient who recently was let out of prison. This patient had previous meth mouth and a high desire to change their life. I was able to clean the few teeth they had left and educate on how to better take care of their oral health. It was heartbreaking yet such a cool experience having a patient who is so willing to change and hung on every word I said about better oral care.  I wanted to give this patient every opportunity to succeed so we had a great conversation and gained so much trust. Later they came to WSU and I was able to finish the cleaning and again saw success in the home care recommendations I gave at the previous appointment. Their gum tissues were so much healthier and their appreciation for the help was overwhelming. It was such a cool experience to see change in so many ways.
