Fall Cohort

The One Utah Service Fellowship (OUSF) is a paid service opportunity for high school graduates, college students, and emerging professionals looking to create meaningful change across Utah while gaining real-world experience. This immersive program places fellows with community-based organizations, nonprofits, and public agencies working on Utah’s most pressing needs—from education and mental health to public health, environmental stewardship, and social services. OUSF now has available slots for flexible 5-month and 10-month AmeriCorps terms of service, offering customizable service hour options of 300, 450, 675, 900, or 1200 hours to fit your schedule. If you are passionate about service, leadership, and community impact, join the upcoming cohort and build your resume while lifting up Utah communities.

Participants Receive:

Members receive a minimum living allowance equivalent to $10/hour and a post-service education award.

  • The Summer of Service is ideal for:

    • Undergraduate and graduate students

    • Recent graduates

    • Individuals exploring careers in public service, nonprofit work, healthcare, education, or social impact

    No prior service experience is required—just a commitment to showing up, learning, and serving with purpose.

    Eligibility Requirements:
    Must be in the state of Utah

    Must be 18 or older

    Must have HS Diploma or GED

    Must be a Lawful US Citizen or Green Card Holder

    Must be able to pass a State and Federal Background Check

  • Fellowship Experience

    As a One Utah Service Fellow, you will:

    • Serve full-time at a community host site during Summer 2026

    • Participate in orientation, training, and reflection opportunities

    • Collaborate with fellow participants across Utah

    • Contribute to projects that meet real community needs

Host a Summer of Service Placement

Host a fellow and gain dedicated support to tackle critical projects in your organization. By hosting a One Utah Service Fellow, you’ll receive a talented and motivated individual who will bring fresh ideas, energy, and a strong commitment to making a difference in your community.

  • This program places motivated, service-driven young adults with community organizations to support meaningful projects that address local needs while building capacity within host sites.

    For the 2026 Summer of Service, we are inviting organizations to host an OUSF AmeriCorps member for 12 weeks, serving for 25 hours per week.

    Summer service runs from May 14 through August 14**.

    ** Dates may be adjusted based on the applicant selected or organizational need.

  • Host Sites must be non-profit and community based organizations.

    OUSF AmeriCorps members work part-time, 25 hours per week, for 12 weeks.

    Duties must be substantive.

    Supervisors will evaluate the member’s work and verify their work hours monthly, which is a component of the participants eligibility for to earn internship course credit.

    Host offices must have a dedicated workspace.

  • Provide SoS member with real work assignments: research, writing, event planning, volunteer engagement, etc. 

    Work should be challenging and recognized by the organization as valuable.

    Establish a training routine to orient the member with their workspace, schedule, work expectations, and responsibilities. This serves not only as a guide but can also answer questions and communicate rules and processes.

    Have an internal coach to mentor. Members need a go-to person who is organized, patient, and enjoys working with young people and teaching skills. Providing feedback is important.

    Encourage team involvement. Introduce the member to the whole organization to provide a bigger picture of the work and provide more opportunities for the staff to use the member’s skills.

  • Examples of projects an OUSF AmeriCorps member may support include, but are not limited to:

    • Community outreach and engagement

    • Program development, evaluation, and implementation

    • Research, policy review, and resource development

    • Marketing and communications, including social media

    • Data and resource database development

    • Supporting presentations, events, and tabling efforts

    • Connecting clients or participants to community resources
