Service to Youth in Richfield

This month we had the opportunity to travel down to Richfield and offer free dental cleanings to people there in the community. It was a cool experience to serve those who haven't been able to go to the dentist in several years. Most of the patients we saw had many cavities and unhealthy gums. It made me sad to see the oral health of these young patients but I was grateful for the opportunity to educate them on ways to improve and minimize the negative effects of their oral habits.   I also had the experience of cleaning the teeth of one of my most difficult patients and it was tough for me. My instructor helped me learn crucial techniques that allowed me to efficiently clean her teeth. I also got to practice injections on this patient that helped me feel a lot more confident with my ability to deliver anesthesia.
